Home at Last!
Posted by Amanda Volden · April 14, 2015 10:37 AM
We have great news!!!! Sweet Pea and Okey have been adopted together by Linda! Okey is 8 and Sweet Pea is 9. They were surrendered by their owner who was ill and couldn't take care of them. They have been here for seven months looking for the perfect home. These two were quite the stars at the shelter with their quirky personalities and strong bond they had between them. We were all so exited to see these two lively seniors get a home of their own! Thank you Linda!!

A Forever Home for Roscoe!
Posted by Amanda Volden · April 07, 2015 10:57 AM
Amanda...on the right....has been around here quite a bit lately volunteering and working on a college project. She's been helping getting the word out about all the amazing animals we have available through social media. We (HSVC staff and volunteers) can't help but fall in love with the animals here at the Shelter and Amanda is no exception. Seems that Roscoe stole her heart.

Astro The Wonder Dog
Posted by David Gersh · March 24, 2015 3:20 PM
Astro was with us since November 28th, 2014. He came in as a stray and we estimated he was about three years old. He is an interesting mix of Labrador Retriever and Rottweiler - his paws showed it with their unique coloring.

Vienna & Pal Forever!
Posted by Amanda Volden · March 12, 2015 3:04 PM
Pal is a friendly palomino gelding who was seized by our Humane Officers last September because he was neglected and extremely underweight. It can take several months for horses to regain weight...it's a slow process that must be monitored closely by a veterinarian. He's been with us for six months and what a difference! He looks great and has a clean bill of health! Pal was adopted today by Vienna! What a fantastic new beginning for him!

A Senior Retreat for Opal
Posted by Amanda Volden · March 10, 2015 9:54 AM
Congratulations to Opal (now named Midnite) and Nancy! Midnite is a 14+ year old Chihuahua who was brought in as a stray on February 16th. Midnite has numerous tumors on her underside that would worsen if removed due to her age and other factors. Besides her medical condition Midnite is a lively senior with lots of sass! One of our volunteers saw her story in our Weekly Wag Newsletter and contacted us immediately to see about giving her a place of her own to enjoy her golden years.

Jo Jo & Dodger Find a Home Together!
Posted by Amanda Volden · February 24, 2015 10:18 AM
Look who went home together...two best friends! Jojo (left) was surrendered to us last October because of a landlord issue. Dodger (right) was brought in last September as a stray! They were next to each other in the kennels and were best buddies in the play yard. We are so excited that they were both adopted today by Mary and Barry!

Oscar and Gang!
Posted by Amanda Volden · February 17, 2015 7:45 AM
Oscar was a transfer to our Shelter from Ventura County Animal Services about a month ago. He was recadopted, by Zachary, Jeremy, dad Motti and mom Jana (not in pic). What is special about this adoption is that Zachary (left) raised and saved all of the money for Oscar's adoption fee by making and selling orange juice, doing chores, and saving his birthday money & allowance. He has been saving since last August! Needless to say, we are all very impressed with this young man! Good job Zachary!! Oscar is one very lucky dog!!!
