Anyone who works or volunteers at an animal shelter will be all too familiar being asked how they can spend time at a shelter without wanting to take all the animals home. Well the truth is, many of the happy adoptions you see here at the Humane Society of Ventura County are in fact the result of a staff member or volunteer falling in love with an animal in our care.

Congratulations to the happy couple! If you have recently visited the HSVC you may recognize young Einstein who grew up here at the shelter. Einstein was barely a week old when he first arrived and was placed in the care of another cat, Chloe, who was also raised at the shelter by our Kennel Manager Angela.

Congratulations to Lois and Greg on the newest member of their family! It's hard to believe Sparky was the same dog brought to us just a week before his adoption.

Way to go Bernie! It's always a special day when a rescue horse gets adopted. This handsome fella had been in the care of the Humane Society of Ventura County since September 27, 2016 after he had been returned to the shelter along with 2 other horses.

A Home For Hanna

We are so happy for cute little Hanna who was adopted by Bella last week! Bella and her family have always been big supporters of the shelter, and Bella along with her friend Coral, have volunteered with the animals for the past few years.

We have wonderful news! Beautiful Dallas, who had been at the shelter since October of last year, was adopted on Saturday!

Happy Tails Gizmo!

On April 7th, Humane Officers responded to a call about a young dog in need. Two month old Gizmo was found in extremely poor living conditions and was brought back to the Humane Society of Ventura County for safekeeping.

We are so happy for sweet Meadow who was adopted yesterday! Six year old Meadow was originally adopted from the HSVC nearly 5 years ago, and recently found herself back at the shelter through no fault of her own.

Success Stories - A Loving Home for Clover!

Alison and Seth hit the jackpot when they adopted sweet Clover! Clover was brought to the Humane Society of Ventura County in March along with 5 young puppies.
