A Home For Odin!
Posted by Franki Williams · September 29, 2015 12:29 PM
We have big news! The HSVC is happy to inform our supporters that Odin, our resident tri-paw has found his forever home! Odin and his story is one we will never forget. We are sure many of you will recognize his smiling face if you have visited the shelter in the past 5 months. It seems like ages ago since Odin was brought to the shelter by our Humane Officers after responding to a call from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department regarding a dog with an exposed bone in his foot that has was eating away at. When Humane Officers arrived on the scene, they saw Odin tied to the fence with no food, water, or shelter. Odin was taken directly to a veterinarian by our Officers and after examination it was evident the leg would need to be amputated.

Jean Grey Goes Home!
Posted by Amanda Volden · August 04, 2015 1:21 PM
We have good news! Jean Grey has found her forever home! Last week a wonderful family adopted her. Jean Grey first arrived at the shelter as a kitten on September 25th of last year with quite a few of her siblings. Her brothers and sisters found new homes very quickly, however Jean Grey was timid and ended up being overlooked over and over again. Jean Grey grew up in our kitten room and when she was big enough moved in with the adult cats. She made lots of feline friends but was never quite sure of humans.

A New Home For Copper!
Posted by Amanda Volden · July 20, 2015 9:30 PM
We have another wonderful adoption story for you! Many of you have followed the story of our dear friend Copper who was brought to the shelter on December 09, 2014 by our Humane Officers with 5 other horses. They were all extremely emaciated and needed medical care. Copper was especially in poor condition due to being unable to retract his male extremity. After months of working with Copper to improve his condition it was determined that he would have to surgery.

A New Life For Kelli
Posted by Amanda Volden · June 23, 2015 5:30 AM
Kelli, a Border Collie puppy, was surrendered to our Shelter in early April when she was eight months old. Most Border Collies do not do well in Shelters and it was immediately apparent that she had some serious behavior issues. She was put into foster care with one of our Humane Society staff for observation and assessment.
