ABOUT
HSVC Cares!
The Humane Society of Ventura County’s HSVC Cares program increases outreach efforts by supplying free pet food, offering low to no-cost pet vaccinations, and providing low to no-cost spay and neuter surgery to communities in need.
Free Pet Food Programs
HSVC Cares' free pet food programs currently include HSVC's onsite pet food pantry, Pantry 4 Paws, and DoorDash PET. Our onsite pet food pantry offers free wet and dry dog and cat food directly from the shelter, located at 40 Bryant St. in Ojai. The Pantry 4 Paws program includes several pet food banks in remote locations, with distribution facilities across Ventura County. DoorDash PET allows pet owners in need to order free pet food through DoorDash within a ten-mile radius of one of our host locations. Each of these programs aims to serve homeless and underserved communities by bringing preventative pet care services and educational outreach to those most in need. To learn more, visit our Free Pet Food page.
Free Remote Pet Vaccination Clinics
HSVC Cares frequently hosts free pet vaccination clinics onsite at the shelter and at remote locations throughout Ventura County. Thanks to our friends at Petco Love, HSVC Cares is able to offer free DHPP vaccines to dogs and free FVRCP vaccines to cats at our vaccination clinics! We also offer $5 Rabies vaccines, though proof of prior Rabies vaccination is required to receive a 3-year certificate. Additionally, our monthly walk-in vaccination clinic offers $15 Bordetella and $25 microchipping. Walk-in clinics are held at the shelter, located at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai, CA, every Saturday from 10 am - 2 pm. To learn more, visit our Free Remote Vaccination page.
Low-Cost to No-Cost Spay/Neuter
Here at the HSVC, part of our mission is to combat pet overpopulation in our community by offering low to no-cost spay and neuter surgery to those in need. Our onsite Spay & Neuter Clinic partners with HSVC Cares to provide these services at little to no cost to pet owners living in underserved communities. If you are in need of this service, please call the shelter at 805-646-6505 and mention HSVC Cares. To learn more, visit our Free Spay and Neuter page.
Those looking to support our HSVC Cares programs are encouraged to donate on our website. Supporters can also contribute by dropping off unopened bags of dry dog or cat food directly to the shelter, located at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai. The HSVC Amazon Wish List has been updated to include examples of requested food.
