ABOUT
Support Safe Transportation of Pets
The Humane Society of Ventura County strives to educate animal owners on how to properly care for their pets. This standard extends to the transportation of animals in motor vehicles, particularly unattended vehicles. We believe leaving an animal unattended in a vehicle for an extended period of time endangers the health and well-being of that animal and is therefore inhumane and unacceptable.
With my signature, I stand with HSVC against endangering the health and well-being of an animal by leaving it in an unattended vehicle and exposing it to excessive heat, extreme cold, lack of adequate ventilation, lack of food or water, or other circumstances that could cause suffering, disability, or death to the animal.
Did you know...
- Hundreds of pets die from heat exhaustion each year after they are left in an unattended vehicle (AVMA)
- Temperatures inside your vehicle can be more than 40 degrees higher than outside temperatures (AVMA)
- Cracking the windows of your vehicle makes no difference to the temperature inside the vehicle (AVMA)
