SPRING & SUMMER HOURS START MARCH 12TH!
In the world of animal sheltering, rescue, and adoption an animal that has been at a shelter for long-term becomes a part of the family. Such was the case with Sequoia, who after nearly two years at the Humane Society of Ventura County was adopted last week!
Bagel, a ten year old Dachshund mix whose family lost their home in the recent tragedies in southern California, needs your help! This sweet dog was originally brought to the Humane Society of Ventura County as an evacuee and after months in our care his family made the very difficult decision to sign him over to us in the hopes of finding him a loving home.
Today is the 24th Annual World Spay Day! Established in 1995 and observed in over 70 countries, the last Tuesday in February has been recognized as a day for animal shelters and rescue organizations to bring awareness to their spay and neuter programs.
Thank you to Friso Aukes who spent the whole day at The Humane Society of Ventura County volunteering! Friso is from Amsterdam and is visiting Southern California on holiday.
On Wednesday, December 13th, the Humane Society of Ventura County took in a stray horse that had been found wandering in a field in Santa Paula just nine days after the Thomas Fire had ignited in Upper Ojai. Two kind citizens in the area were able to load the horse into a trailer and transport him to the shelter where he was promptly given food and bathed.
