Guava's Heartbreaking Milestone
Posted by Humane Society of Ventura County · February 10, 2026 11:25 AM · 1 reaction

Above, far left: Guava when he first came into the shelter at 7-months old (notice the spots on his nose as he got older)
Some dogs come to the shelter for a short stay. Others, like Guava, quietly wait longer than anyone ever imagined, with unwavering faith that their person is out there. Guava has officially hit his one-year milestone here at the Humane Society of Ventura County, and while that's not something we ever want to celebrate, we do want to celebrate what a fantastic dog he is. Nearly 2-years-old now, Guava is still a young, goofy, big-hearted Pit Bull Terrier mix who has grown up right before our eyes.

Mamacita is still searching for her forever family! After spending 250 days at the Humane Society of Ventura County and counting, this petite girl is hoping her perfect match is still out there. She's looking for someone who sees her gentle heart and is ready to offer a calm, loving space for her to land.
At 3-years-old, Mamacita is a small Pomeranian with a soft and spunky personality. She thrives in peaceful environments where routines are steady and expectations are consistent. Mamacita enjoys staying close to her person, quietly sharing space and companionship rather than demanding constant attention. While she may be tiny in size, she has a very big presence and appreciates people who respect her boundaries and take the time to build her trust.
