We had a furrtastic time at RescueCon 2024! From meeting the Kitten Lady to socializing with our supporters, it was an afternoon full of animal fun! We're especially proud of HSVC's Dr. Christina Sisk for sharing her extensive knowledge of veterinary care with attendees as a keynote speaker. Adopt a Horse Month was introduced in 2021 by the ASPCA Right Horse program, and it has been gaining popularity ever since. The program aims to help horses find suitable homes with the right individuals. May is considered one of the best times to promote adoptable horses to those who are looking to add another horse to their family. This is because equestrians begin to focus on shows, trail rides, and other activities after being cooped up during the winter months. April is Volunteer Appreciation Month! As an organization founded by volunteers, these dedicated individuals share a special place in our hearts. From socializing frightened kittens and exercising our most energetic dogs to mucking stalls and working offsite events, this group represents the very best of our animal-loving community. They spend countless hours putting the needs of the animals before their own, and we are so grateful for their service!
Everest would love to be your new cuddle bug! Eight-year-old Everest originally came in as a stray, and after we found her owner, they realized they could no longer care for her and surrendered her to the shelter to find a new home. She has been at the HSVC for 254 days. The sweet Husky was briefly adopted during her stay but was returned due to no fault of her own. As a senior pup, Everest is ready for a commitment with an owner who is ready to give her the love she deserves.
After 366 days at the shelter, we are thrilled to share that Chucky has found his forever home! Now Max, the 3-year-old Bull Mastiff/Siberian Husky mix will be living happily ever after with Allison. As you can see, he's already quite comfortable in his new digs!
We had so much fun at Saturday's free Puppy Love concert in the park! Thank you to all who came out to meet some of our adoptable dogs and support the shelter. An even bigger thank you goes out to our friends at The Voice Studio/LA for putting on such a great event!
Long-term resident Chucky celebrated his one-year anniversary at the shelter on Friday, April 19th. While this is not our favorite milestone for a pup to reach, it is a milestone nonetheless. We want to take this opportunity to share our favorite things about Chuck and why he would be a great addition to any family!
