Join Us in Celebrating Responsible Dog Ownership Day!

By Amy King

September 17th is Responsible Dog Ownership Day! This day is celebrated each year as a way to get pet parents to ‘pawse’ and remember the promises they made to their ‘furever’ friends. As a dog owner, you are responsible for the well-being of your furry friend. From grooming to daily walks, the responsibilities required to properly care for a pup are infinite. We always remind our potential adopters that rescuing a shelter dog is a lifelong commitment. In return, you will get many years of puppy love, kisses, and joy from your pets!

Meaty Finds His Furever Home

By Amy King

We are so excited to share that Meaty, now Franky, has been adopted by Rachel! Judging by Franky's smile, we'd say he's pretty excited too! Two-year-old Franky was bought to the shelter by our Humane Officers as part of a humane investigation. Despite the situation he came from, Franky was immediately friendly with everyone and quickly became a staff favorite. We have no doubt he will continue to bring joy to new mom Rachel's life in his forever home! Congrats and happy tails, Franky!

Help Needed! Support our Shelter Horses

By Amy King

Help needed! The HSVC recently acquired several emaciated horses as part of an abuse and neglect case. Our dedicated staff is providing continuous care for these animals as they regain their health, including using between 10 and 15 bags of shavings per week to keep their corrals clean. As a result, we are running low on shavings. We’re looking for horse-loving supporters to purchase bags of shavings from any local feed store and donate them to our shelter. Help us care for these animals in need!
