Did you know the Humane Society of Ventura County has programs that offer free pet food to those in need? We want to help keep animals out of the shelter and in their homes! You can help us accomplish our mission by donating to our free pet food programs and spreading the word to anyone in need of these services. 

The HSVC has three different programs that provide free pet food to owners with furry friends in need. The first is our Pet Food Bank, which operates at the shelter located at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai. Pet owners in need can stop by the shelter and receive free wet and dry dog and/or cat food any time during business hours Monday - Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm. 

Our second free pet food program, Pantry 4 Paws, was established as a program in which pet owners in need can pick up free pet food at various distribution facilities across Ventura County. Any welfare agencies, nonprofits, or businesses in Ventura County who may be interested in hosting a Pantry 4 Paws installation at no cost should contact HSVC Community Outreach Coordinator, Steve McCurry, at [email protected] or 805-910-6240. 

DoorDash PET is HSVC's newest and most popular free pet food program. Thanks to our partners DoorDash, Interface Children and Family Services Ventura County 211, and the United Way, our shelter is able to deliver free dog and cat food to underserved communities across Ventura County. Pet owners in need can order free pet food through DoorDash within a ten-mile radius of one of our host locations. To enroll in this public service, call 844-984-0946. You must live within ten miles of one of our host locations to qualify.

All three of our free pet food programs are made possible thanks to the generosity of our community. As a private nonprofit, we do not receive any government funding and we are not affiliated with any national animal welfare organizations.
