Horse Rescued During Thomas Fire Needs Your Help!

On Wednesday, December 13th, the Humane Society of Ventura County took in a stray horse that had been found wandering in a field in Santa Paula just nine days after the Thomas Fire had ignited in Upper Ojai. Two kind citizens in the area were able to load the horse into a trailer and transport him to the shelter where he was promptly given food and bathed.

Volunteer Groups Make a Difference!

Thank you to the Circle K International Club from Ventura College for coming up to the shelter last week to go through training to become volunteers! Volunteers are required to attend training classes to learn how to safely socialize the cats and dogs and learn about the intricacies of dog and cat body language. The trainings help to make the experience more enjoyable for both our volunteers and our animals!

Congratulations to Tinke and Bree!

On April 22, 2016, sixteen year old Tinke was surrendered to the shelter by her previous owner when the cost to care of her became too much. Besides her age Tinke had numerous tumors on her underside. While they do not cause her any pain she does have some difficulty walking. Despite this, Tinke does very well and is enjoying life!
