The Humane Society of Ventura County is a compassionate care shelter and non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and adoption of animals in need throughout Ventura County.
We are pleased to announce this spring’s Open Board Meeting will be held at the shelter on Wednesday, April 18th at 6pm. The meeting will take place at the Humane Society of Ventura County in front of the Harry Valentine Visitor Center.
Meet this week's Staff Pick! Carter, a year and a half old Airedale Terrier, has already made quite the impact on our staff and guests, just ask Kennel Attendant Sean, who has been working one-on-one with Carter since he was brought to the Humane Society of Ventura County on November 8th.
It’s not every day that a volunteer graduates to an Animal Ambassador! This weekend, Mellissa Goldman became our latest Animal Ambassador. Animal Ambassadors are volunteers who have been with the Humane Society of Ventura County for over a year and wish to help out more, such as assisting customers, and making play groups with our dogs.

In the world of animal sheltering, rescue, and adoption an animal that has been at a shelter for long-term becomes a part of the family. Such was the case with Sequoia, who after nearly two years at the Humane Society of Ventura County was adopted last week!
Bagel, a ten year old Dachshund mix whose family lost their home in the recent tragedies in southern California, needs your help! This sweet dog was originally brought to the Humane Society of Ventura County as an evacuee and after months in our care his family made the very difficult decision to sign him over to us in the hopes of finding him a loving home.
Today is the 24th Annual World Spay Day! Established in 1995 and observed in over 70 countries, the last Tuesday in February has been recognized as a day for animal shelters and rescue organizations to bring awareness to their spay and neuter programs.
