The Humane Society of Ventura County is a compassionate care shelter and non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and adoption of animals in need throughout Ventura County.
On April 22, 2016, sixteen year old Tinke was surrendered to the shelter by her previous owner when the cost to care of her became too much. Besides her age Tinke had numerous tumors on her underside. While they do not cause her any pain she does have some difficulty walking. Despite this, Tinke does very well and is enjoying life!
Thank you to our neighbors at the Weil Tennis Academy for volunteering their time to help with shelter animals! Weil Tennis Academy students have been volunteers at the Humane Society for over a year and we were excited to receive 7 new volunteers last week!
Last week, with the support of our community, Director of Investigation J. Hoffman, Senior Humane Officer Vail, and Humane Officer Winwood were pleased to acquire a new vehicle to help with the rescue and transport of large animals in need.

Four months ago Blake, a seven year old domestic short hair cat, was surrendered to the Humane Society of Ventura County after his owners passed away and there was no one left to care for him. Situations such as these are precisely why animal shelters like the HSVC exist, to be there for those animals who have nowhere left to go. While it is a common misconception that animals in shelters are there because they themselves have done something wrong this is just not so. While Blake has transitioned nicely to our adult cat room this charming cat misses life in a loving home.
