Your Donations at Work! New Multi-Use Horse Wash Station is Complete

Humane Society Welcomes New Director of Veterinary Services

On March first, the Humane Society of Ventura County welcomed Christina Sisk, DVM to the team as the new Director of Veterinary Services. As Director of Veterinary Services, Dr. Sisk will oversee our spay and neuter clinic as well as the health and wellbeing of all animals in our care. Dr. Sisk will provide leadership for our clinic staff, ensure that quality medicine is delivered, and make sure that regulatory compliance of veterinary medicine is practiced. Besides conducting spay and neuter surgeries for the shelter and public’s animals, Dr. Sisk and her team will also examine each animal in the Shelter’s care, making sure they are properly vaccinated and receive any necessary treatments.

The Many Ways Junior Volunteers Give Back

The Humane Society of Ventura County is very lucky to have volunteers of all ages. Our Junior Volunteer Program allows children who are ten years or older to begin making a difference in the lives of animals in our county. These volunteers, along with their parents, work to teach dogs and cats the joys of playing ball, chasing toys, and cuddling in our laps. It also gives the shelter a chance to learn how the animals do with children in a safe and healthy environment.

Hay Now, Lion’s Club Donation Put to Use

Thanks to a generous donation by the Ojai Valley Lion's Club, a second hay barn is under construction at the Humane Society of Ventura County. Once complete, it will be a duplicate of the hay barn already on site at the Shelter property in Ojai and will be used to store large animal feed.
