Nationwide, rescues and shelters are celebrating the charms and perks of adopting a senior animal. Here at the Humane Society of Ventura County, we believe that age is only a number. Senior dogs will stay in our care until we find a permanent home, foster, or hospice situation.

Help Abby Get the Care She Needs

On Friday, November 8th, the Humane Society of Ventura County responded to a direct call from an owner who was in dire need of help with their horse. The owner had been urged to call the Shelter and ask for help after it became evident that the horse's needs were not being met. Humane Officer Winwood and Veterinary Assistant, Christina Malleck, immediately went to the property to meet with the owner. All parties involved agreed it would be best for the horse to be signed over to the Shelter so that it could receive immediate care.
