HSVC is Taking Necessary Precautions During COVID-19

In light of COVID-19, we’re increasing the frequency and extent of daily cleanings, and taking steps to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers, the public, and our animals.
The Humane Society of Ventura County is a compassionate care shelter and non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and adoption of animals in need throughout Ventura County.

It’s that time of year again! Days are getting longer and warmer, which means kittens are right around the corner! During kitten season, it is not unusual to find a litter of unattended kittens or a single kitten seemingly abandoned by the mother. Each year, the Humane Society and county animal services get many underage kittens turned into our shelters. Unfortunately, the shelter is NOT an appropriate place for these highly vulnerable, baby kittens that often need around the clock care. So before jumping to the rescue, consider these recommendations.
The Humane Society of Ventura County is open for extended summer hours starting Monday, March 9th!
Last Saturday Girl Scout Troop 6283 visited the HSVC to learn about animals and earn their Cadette Animal Helpers Badge. They also donated supplies to our shelter animals and even spoiled our staff with girl scout cookies!
The HSVC would like to extend a HUGE thank you to Jocelyn and her friends who donated $500 to the shelter in honor of her 12th birthday today!
Archer the rescue horse is loving life on the ranch! Thanks to the dedication and care from his horse mama, Danielle Brinkman, our boy is happy and healthy in his new home.
Even pigs need to be pampered! The Humane Society of Ventura County welcomed Dr. Bailey of Matilija Veterinarian Hospital yesterday as he paid a visit to Petunia the pig.
Abby the horse is feeling the love this Valentine’s Day as she gets adopted into her forever home!
