You know what time it is! Time for a weekly pupdate! Your favorite litter of fur babies is now 7-weeks-old. They are eating nonstop and getting so big! Each puppy has also discovered their own “voice”, they’re quite the talkative bunch! Our kennel staff definitely have their hands full caring for this rowdy and playful brood.
Calling all Animal Friends! The Humane Society of Ventura County is excited to announce that we will be hosting our kid's Animal Adventure Camp in person for the summer of 2021! Campers aged 9-12 (4th-6th grade) will be welcomed to the shelter property to take part in nature education, animal interactions, crafts, and more! This year we are also offering our younger Animal Friends to join in on the fun with the first-ever Animal Explorers Camp for children aged 5-8 (K-3rd grade)!
Attention outdoor adventurers with furry friends! The Ojai Valley Land Conservancy is hosting a rattlesnake avoidance training clinic on June 5th and 6th so you can have peace of mind when exploring with your pups.
This rambunctious bunch is officially 6-weeks-old! They are becoming very independent, which means Mama Juliet is finally able to enjoy some much-needed "me time". Juliet's puppies spend each day exploring their surroundings, wrestling with their siblings, and napping after a long day's work of being adorable. Each pup is also now eating both wet and dry food four times a day. They are growing so fast!
It takes a village to run a nonprofit animal shelter. The Humane Society of Ventura County is no exception. We are fortunate to have the support of so many individuals, businesses, and community partners. Wayne and Pam Eichele are two of them who recently announced a commitment to include the HSVC in their estate planning.
#Pupdate Juliet’s baker’s dozen of pups are now 5-weeks-old and growing fast! In addition to milk from Mama, they are enjoying a yummy helping of wet food and formula twice a day. The rambunctious brood is enjoying playtime with our staff and expressing their individual personalities more every day. However, these fur babies are NOT AVAILABLE for adoption at this time, as they are still too young to be away from Mama.
It is with a heavy heart to announce that veteran Search Dog Moxie passed away recently with her handler, Brent Koeninger, at her side. Moxie was surrendered to the Humane Society of Ventura County when her original owner was deployed overseas. Within a day, the Search Dog Foundation had received numerous calls about the petite black Lab that loved her toys! She did a wonderful job on her search dog candidate evaluation and was soon on her way to SDF’s training kennel to learn the skills she would need for a career in disaster search.
It's time for your weekly pupdate! Mama Juliet's puppies are now 4-weeks-old and growing fast! This week our 13 furry friends got to enjoy their first taste of solid food and were introduced to the world of toys. Boy, do they love toys! Each pup is developing its own adorable personality and becoming more independent each day. However, they are still nursing and will not be available for adoption for several weeks.
