Thanksgiving is right around the corner! For humans, this holiday means celebrating with family and of course, food! However, Thanksgiving can present plenty of opportunities for our furry friends to get into mischief. Check out these tips to keep your pets safe and healthy this turkey day!
The HSVC would like to congratulate Liz Cameron of Ventura County Code Enforcement on her retirement! For the past 32 years, Liz has worked alongside our Humane Officers during investigations of animal abuse and neglect. She is hardworking, dedicated, and we will miss her! As a token of our appreciation, the HSVC will be adding a paver stone to our onsite memory garden in honor of Liz's years of service.
As we get closer to the Thanksgiving holiday, it's important to reflect on the things in life we are grateful for. From furry friends to fresh air, there are infinite things to be thankful for this season. To celebrate the spirit of giving and thankfulness, our staff has created a "Giving Tree" display where visitors can gather and show their gratitude.
Only 11 more days until #GivingTuesday! That means it’s time for another #FiveDollarFriday! Did you know the HSVC has the only two Humane Officers in Ventura County? Humane Officers protect animals from abusive or neglectful owners, investigate cases of animal cruelty, and educate the public on how to properly care for animals. They assist in evacuations during natural disasters and work with local authorities to ensure our community is safer for animals.
We are just two and a half weeks away from this year's Purrs & Paws event! Join us at Chaparral Auditorium on Saturday, December 4th, from 9 am - 4 pm for a day filled with holiday spirit, shopping, and fun!
Exciting news! The HSVC is officially OPEN to the public! Visitors are now welcome to stop by the Shelter, located at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai, during business hours Monday – Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm to visit the animals. We are thrilled to welcome everyone back!
The HSVC would like to extend a big thank you to the students of Ojai Valley School for their generous donation of over $600! Alex (pictured), Eugene (pictured), and their fellow classmates sold handmade pottery at the Ojai Day festival and donated all proceeds to our Shelter. From all of us at the HSVC, thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of animals in need!
