A very special thank you to Dani Sasek and her family! Dani began working on a project for the Humane Society last year for her Girl Scout Silver Award. After touring the facility she decided she wanted to raise funds to purchase dog waste stations to be placed throughout the property.

Help Maggie Shed her Weight!

Maggie is a sweet female, yellow German Shepherd Dog mix and is an estimated 5 years old. Maggie came to the HSVC on Sep 30, 2014 as a stray. When she came in she was 90 pounds, she should be closer to 50 pounds judging by her height (she is much shorter than your average GSD).

KEEPING PETS SAFE FOR THE HOLIDAYS

The Holiday Season is a wonderful time of year but can also be dangerous for our pets. Keep these simple things in mind and you and your pet will both have a happy holiday. Turkey Bones: Although it may be tempting to give your pet a holiday treat, under no circumstances should they be given turkey bones. The small bones or fragments of the bones from a turkey can become lodged in your pet’s throat, stomach or intestines.

Update on Sadie Mae

Sadie Mae has put on 85 lbs since our Humane Investigators brought her to the shelter for rehabilitation on September 17, 2014. Our investigators and kennel staff are happy to report that Sadie Mae is doing well, she has a good appetite and is gaining weight at a healthy pace. Sadie Mae is even beginning to make friends with the other mares! She has started to trust the staff and seems to enjoy her weekly baths.
