HSVC Excited to Welcome Juliet and Her Puppies!

Puppies have taken over the Humane Society of Ventura County! We are very excited to officially introduce Juliet and her brood of adorable fur babies! Three-year-old Juliet was transferred to the HSVC through our rescue partners at Kern County Animal Services in mid-March. Very sweet but very pregnant, the German Shepherd mama-to-be was placed into foster care to ensure she had a quiet and comfortable space to have her puppies.

What To Do When You Find Kittens

Many cats, including stray and feral cats, go into heat and give birth during the warmer months. Known as Kitten Season, shelters like the HSVC are flooded with litters of young kittens during this time of year. Kittens are often found unattended in streets, yards, or neighborhood areas. While it may seem like these fur babies have been orphaned, most kittens have not actually been abandoned by their mothers. It is more likely that their mother is out getting food or even hiding close by.

Angel Voucher Recipient Pays It Forward

Kayla recently reached out to the HSVC in need of financial assistance for her dog, Panda, who was in need of emergency medical care. We were able to provide her with an Angel Fund voucher, which helps pet owners with serious financial needs get their animals emergency medical treatment. We are happy to report Panda has since made a full recovery!
