The Humane Society of Ventura County is a compassionate care shelter and non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and adoption of animals in need throughout Ventura County.
We were thrilled to welcome Lance Orozco of NPR's KCLU Radio to the shelter this week! Lance joined us in our Spay & Neuter Clinic to learn more about HSVC's partnership with Ventura College's Vet Tech program. He spoke with HSVC's Executive Director Eric Knight, Director of Veterinary Medicine Dr. Christina Sisk, and Ventura College's Professor McKenzie Rasmussen. Giving Tuesday is just one week away! Don't forget to join us on Tuesday, November 29th, from 5 - 8 pm at Ojai Valley Brewery for our Giving Tuesday fundraiser event! There will be a silent auction, photo booth, food, and more all to benefit the animals at the HSVC. We especially encourage those with HSVC alumni pets to attend, our staff loves seeing adoption success stories! We'll see you there! Giving Tuesday is a nationally recognized holiday in the nonprofit world that encourages people to give back to their favorite organizations in any way possible. It offers nonprofit organizations the chance to raise more money than they would on an average day of giving, which is why many organizations create unique campaigns to participate in this day of giving. The Humane Society of Ventura County would like to extend a big thank you to the students of Ojai Valley School for their generous donation of over $400! The students created and sold pottery during the Ojai Day festival in Libby Park last month, with all proceeds donated to benefit shelter animals in need. Interim Shelter Director Arlene MacSween (pictured, center) was on hand to accept the donation. Thank you to all the students who participated!
This week is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week! Each year, community members, animal lovers and grateful pet guardians come together to celebrate their local shelter.
