For A Limited Time!

BACK FOR A LIMITED TIME! We were recently chosen to be the fortunate recipients of a generous grant for our Chihuahua spay and neuter program! While the HSVC was awarded the grant, it is our entire community that will benefit. Animal overpopulation is not a myth but a very real fact that impacts the lives of tens of thousands of animals each year right here in our own county. Visit any shelter and you will find them filled with animals with no home to call their own and not enough people visiting their local shelters to adopt.

Thank You Students of Oak Grove School!

This morning, three fourth grade students from Oak Grove School stopped by the shelter to make a contribution to animals in need. Yoshi, Danielle, and Kate held a fundraiser bake sale as part of a project for their math class and donated all the funds they raised, an amazing $184, to the shelter!

Thank You Rubicon Theatre!

A very special thank you and congratulations to the Rubicon Theatre on Saturday nights successful opening of the play Sylvia! Rubicon Theatre not only collected donations for the shelter but also invited the HSVC staff to do a presentation on our services and provide materials on animal rescue throughout ventura County.

Identifying Stray & Feral Cats

Spring is here and we all know what that means……KITTIES! There are many homeless cats on the prowl and we are often asked how to tell the difference between “feral” cats and “stray” cats in your neighborhood. Knowing how to tell the difference can help inform you how best to interact with a cat or what type of intervention would be in the cat’s best interest.
