Five bucks can make all the difference for an animal in need. Before you start your weekend, won't you please consider making a donation to our spay and neuter program? It's easy, just click here!

Yesterday, the Humane Society of Ventura County announced the return of a special program that provides free spay and neuter surgeries to low income families with Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. Due to being overbred and irresponsible owners, Chihuahuas are one of the most common breeds found in shelters. The stigma that surrounds Chihuahuas is more often than not due to the dissemination of false information on this wonderful breed.

Small dogs, like Chihuahuas, make wonderful pets and family members. They are intelligent dogs who enjoy human companionship and with proper training can be easily housebroken and learn a variety of tricks! Educating the public about the charms of welcoming a Chihuahua into your home and how to properly care for them can help shelters nationwide find loving families for these often overlooked dogs.

In the meantime, reducing the number of Chihuahuas that will find themselves in shelters through no fault of their own is key to ending the suffering of homeless animals throughout Ventura County. While we recently received a grant to help bring this popular program back to Ventura County residents we need your help to keep the momentum going! ALL donations will go to our spay and neuter program to help end the cycle of suffering for homeless animals.
