Volunteer Appreciation Week 2016!

It's National Volunteer Appreciation Week and everyone here at the HSVC would like to give a big THANK YOU to all the volunteers both past and present who support us!

We are so thankful for the time you give as well as the skills and compassion you share to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals throughout the county. “Not a day goes by where our volunteers do not change the lives of the animals for the better,” says Volunteer Coordinator Amanda Volden.

Our volunteers play a crucial role in promoting the health, safety, welfare, compassionate care and protection of all animals in the Ventura County. Volunteers are dedicated members of our team assisting in all areas of our operation, such as helping with adoptions and giving the animals the love they need to thrive. As a private, non-profit organization that does not receive funding from the government or national animal welfare organizations like HSUS or ASPCA, we depend on people like you who selflessly give their time to the animals and the programs that support them.

On average our volunteers donate between 600-700 hours per month! Volunteers contribute to the shelter in a multitude of ways; dog and cat socializing, grounds work, office help, photography and videography, pet therapy, event help, yard checks, and more!

Every month we have close to 30 new volunteers who go through our volunteer training program including our Junior Volunteers (10-15 year olds), after school clubs, adult care groups, and senior programs just to name a few.
