Thank you, Madison!

HSVC would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Madison Kim for her generous donation to benefit animals in need! Madison, a 7th grader from Viewpoint School in Calabasas, started her own homemade pet treat line and donated all the proceeds to our shelter. She was able to raise $500, and her parents matched her sales with an additional $500 donation to HSVC.

Twelve-year-old Madison was first introduced to HSVC after she visited the shelter during a field trip with her elementary school in 2019. The experience left such a positive impact on the animal-loving student that she asked for donations to the shelter instead of gifts for her 8th birthday. Madison wanted to make a bigger impact and began brainstorming ways she could help make a difference. According to Madison's mom, Sohyung, Madison's love for animals drove her to start her business by researching recipes, mixing and baking the treats, designing her logo, and packaging the treats all on her own.

Her small business, Madison's Treats, was born and became an instant success! Madison spent the summer manning a stand in her neighborhood to sell her baked dog treats. She gave her first round of donations to the shelter at the end of the summer of 2021 and has continued to fundraise for HSVC each summer since. We are so impressed with her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit and greatly appreciate her support of our mission!
