Local Artist Renn Bird Captures Essence of Flicka
The HSVC would like to give a heartfelt shoutout to local artist Renn Bird for painting this gorgeous portrait of our beloved shelter resident, Flicka! Renn was inspired by the German Shepherd's story and created this one-of-a-kind painting to capture her lovable personality. We are thrilled to display it at the shelter! Thank you, Renn Bird!
Five-year-old Flicka has been at the shelter for over 550 days. She arrived in August of 2022 as part of an abuse and neglect case. Several of the other animals involved in her case have since been adopted, but our girl Flicka is still patiently waiting! Renn Bird heard about Flicka's journey to find her forever home and wanted to lend his skills to help Flicka's cause. The shelter itself is also near and dear to Renn, as he attended summer camp at HSVC when he first moved to Ojai as a child.
Renn, a lifelong artist and Ojai local, often commissions stunning portraits of people's pets. He also shared some of the other portraits he's done for fellow HSVC alumnus including 13-year-old cat Fergie (above, left) and 8-year-old pup Rose (above, right).
