Princess Paloma Finds Her Forever Home!

The HSVC is thrilled to share that our girl Paloma has found her forever home! The 13-year-old Mustang was adopted by Hannah and her group of horse-loving girls Amaya, Maya, Lily, and Alex were on hand to join in the adoption photo!

Paloma, now affectionately referred to as Princess Paloma, is one of several animals seized by our Humane Officers in mid-August 2022 as part of an abuse and neglect case. After almost one-and-a-half years, the case was finally resolved by the Ventura Superior Court. Both animal owners in question were charged with two Felony counts of Animal Neglect and sentenced to serve time in jail. They must also both complete Benchmark Animal Rehabilitative Curriculum (B.A.R.C.) counseling, perform 20 hours of community service, pay restitution to HSVC, and be on formal probation for 24 months. They are also both prohibited from owning animals of any kind.

Despite the situation she came from, Paloma was an instant favorite among our staff thanks to her sweet and friendly personality. Our staff enjoyed turning her out and even began riding her with a saddle during her time at the shelter! We knew she was a special girl who needed a special home, and we're so happy that's exactly what she found!

According to Hannah, Paloma has been an absolute dream horse since she brought her home. The loving mare now spends her days as a lesson horse being ridden by girls of all ages. The girls even have "Princess Paloma parties" with her! We couldn't think of a more perfect home for such a deserving horse!
