October is Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month AND Subaru Loves Pets Month! There's no better time to bring home a furry friend in need! We will be spotlighting many of our adoptable shelter dogs throughout the month on social media, plus offering adoption specials to help deserving shelter pups find their forever homes! The HSVC will also be partnering with our friends at Kirby Subaru Ventura to host a vaccination clinic and adoption event in celebration of Subaru Loves Pets Month. We hope to see you there!

Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month is a month-long promotion with the goal of finding as many shelter dogs as possible their forever homes. We have a wide variety of pooches currently available for adoption at HSVC, and each one is as sweet as the next! You can view all of our adoptable animals by visiting our website or by stopping by the shelter to meet them. We are open Monday - Saturday from 10 am to 4:30 pm to visit the animals and the shelter is located at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai, CA.

Kirby Subaru, a longtime supporter of the HSVC, has invited HSVC back for their annual Subaru Loves Pet Month. Our HSVC Cares team will be at their dealership in Ventura on Saturday, October 14th, from 9 - 12 pm offering free and low-cost vaccines. This vaccination clinic is cash only and proof of a prior rabies vaccine is required to receive a 3-year Rabies certificate. Reminder! Puppies MUST be at least 8-weeks-old to receive vaccines. We are offering:

- FREE FVRCP (upper respiratory) vaccines for cats

- FREE DHPP (distemper/parvo) vaccines for dogs

- $5 Rabies vaccines

Staff and volunteers will also be in attendance showcasing several of our adoptable dogs and cats on site. You may just find your future best friend! Pet pawrents can also take part in Halloween fun by dressing up and taking festive photos in our Halloween Photobooth.

But wait, there's more! As part of Subaru Loves Pets Month, our friends at the ASPCA are donating $100 for each adoption to take place in the month of October, up to $3100! Thank you, ASPCA! Those looking to support our efforts this October but are not ready to bring home a furry friend can do so by donating to the shelter.
