Max the Loving Family Dog

Max, formerly Toffee, was adopted by Tatiana and her family in March of 2020 just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit Ventura County. Affectionately referred to as "half Black Mouth Cur and half Kangaroo", the handsome pup has become the most loving dog since becoming part of their family.

Tatiana and her family had been searching for an older dog that was good with children and cats. The family had almost given up their search when a staff member introduced them to Max, then Toffee, at the HSVC. It turned out to be a match made in heaven, and Max was adopted just before Ventura County went into lockdown. "The timing for us was very unique as it was a very uncertain time period and adopting a pet at that time was either the riskiest thing to do or the best thing to do. It turned out to be the latter," said Tatiana.

According to Tatiana, Max was very submissive and scared when he was first brought into their home. However, it did not take long for his confidence to grow and his loving personality to blossom. Max's hobbies in his new home now include cuddling with the kids, taking long naps, and soaking up the sun whenever he can. He also loves car rides and exploring the outdoors.

"We love him sooo much. We think about you guys always and we are so grateful that we found him at HSVC. He has brought so much joy and love in our home and with our kids. We love him so much and regard him so dearly as one more family member. He is so loved!" said Tatiana. From all of us at the shelter, we want to thank Tatiana and her family for taking a chance on Max and giving him the loving home he deserves!
