Malli and Athena's Adventure!

Looks like Athena and Malli had a blast on their weekend hiking adventure! The pair of HSVC shelter pups recently spent an afternoon exploring the trails of downtown Ojai with Kennel Attendant/Vet Assistant Natalie and Humane Officer Utter. Talk about a picture-perfect play date!

Athena and Malli both proved to be excellent hiking partners and were able to complete the 3.5-mile loop in no time! Each pup walked excellently on a leash and listened well to the commands of our staff.

Above left: Three-year-old Athena is sweet, active, and very smart! She loves to please her handlers and would be a great addition to any family. However, she is still learning her manners around other dogs and would do best as the only animal in the home.

Above right: Malli, a nearly 1-year-old Border Collie, is one big ball of energy! She loves going on pack walks and gets along with most other dogs. Her ideal home would have a large yard, a confident handler, with family members that offer mental and physical stimulation each day.

Both Athena and Malli are considered "long-term residents" at the Shelter since they have been at the HSVC for over 100 days. This weekend's adventure provided some much-needed time out of the Shelter and allowed both pups to explore in the real world. They even encountered a horse along their journey!

Malli and Athena are currently available for adoption at the HSVC, though Malli is currently pending adoption. If you are interested in adopting either pup, please call the Shelter at 805-646-6505 to learn more about them!
