Help Us Find Homes for Horses in Need!

Big news! We have four more horses now available for adoption! Say hello to Chief, Cecelia, Cowboy, and Shyann! Each of these gorgeous equines came to the HSVC through our Humane Officers as part of abuse and neglect cases. We are so excited to finally be able to help find them the forever homes they deserve!

Above: Shyann is a 25-year-old female palomino miniature horse. Sweet but a little sassy, Shyann needs a strong but friendly handler. She likes to be brushed, however, her patience does have a time limit on how long she is willing to be brushed. Shyann ikes to be turned out and will go out with others. She will walk on a lead and loads in the trailer but takes some time to get in.

Above: Cowboy is a 25-year-old male Pony. He likes pasture turn out, seems to get along with horses, and is friendly with people after he gets time to warm up to them. He is still learning new things and needs to go slow when being introduced to new stuff. Cowboy will also stand to be brushed.

Above: Cecelia is a 13-year-old female miniature pony. She can be sassy at times, but overall Cecelia is very sweet. Cecelia may be a mini, but don't let her size fool you. This pretty girl needs a strong but friendly handler to show her how to be a good girl. She likes to be brushed, enjoys being turned out, and will go out with others, though she can be a little sassy with others at times. Cecelia will walk on a lead and will load into a trailer but she will take her time doing so.

Above: The biggest of the bunch, 25-year-old Chief is about 15.3 hands high. He was severely underweight when he first arrived at the shelter as part of an abuse and neglect case. Thanks to the dedication of our HSVC staff, Chief is now happy and healthy. This handsome paint is fully retired from riding, but he would make a great companion horse. He loves to be brushed, walked, and is good for his hoofs trimmings and baths.

If you are interested in adding one of these furry friends to your family, please call the shelter at 805-646-6505 to speak with our equine specialists. Reminder! All applications for these horses will be reviewed and approved by our Humane Officers and all horse adoptions are $200.
