Farewell Friends

This past Saturday 13 more evacuee animals from the Woolsey Fire were reunited with their family. Jill Dempsey, who has been a regular face at the shelter when visiting her animals in our care, had relied on the Humane Society of Ventura County to care for her animals after the property where they were housed was burnt down in Malibu. The HSVC Equine Rescue Team had rescued 2 donkeys, 3 rabbits, 3 goats, 4 roosters, and Hank the pig in the field on November 11th. Over the course of the past few months, the shelter staff and volunteers welcomed the displaced animals into the HSVC family and made sure that each received the best quality care during their stay with us.

At this time there are still nearly 20 evacuee animals at the shelter as a result of the fires and we remain committed to their care until their families can safely take them home.

Thank you to our hardworking staff and volunteers for all they do for animals in need, to Katie Cook at the Little Farm in Ojai for her dedication and help to care for rescue animals, and to the Dempsey Family for entrusting us with their animals during this difficult time.
