HSVC recently received a call inquiring about a birthday celebration for a local youth. Megan wanted to see if we would be willing to host a birthday celebration for her daughter Evie. Evie, an animal lover, wanted her friends to visit and donate items to the animals in lieu of presents for her birthday.  

Evie arrived at the shelter with her family and guests in the late afternoon. Although HSVC doesn't have a dedicated space for birthday parties, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share information about the shelter through some activities and a tour. It was a rainy day in Ojai, but we could still feel a sense of warmth & joy as Evie and her loved ones toured the shelter. They were able to interact with the cats and kittens and of course, with Oliver Bird in the front office. Oliver even sang a special “Happy Birthday” to Evie and her friends. The group was also treated to a special visit from Humane Officer Gonzalez.  

It was so heartwarming to see our HSVC friends' generosity and willingness to help the animals at the shelter.
