Donate Your Old Vehicle to Benefit Animals in Need!

Did you know you could donate your old clunker cars to benefit animals in need? It's true! Vehicle donations to the Humane Society of Ventura County have the potential to bring hundreds and sometimes even thousands of dollars in support of our programs. Donating is easy, the pick-up is free, and your gift is tax-deductible.

Here's how it works:

  1. Contact: Reach out to our vehicle donation partner, Charitable Adult Rides & Services (CARS), at 855-500-7433 or fill out the online car donation form and designate the Humane Society of Ventura County as your selected charity. The CARS Vehicle Donation Support team is available seven days a week to support you every step of the way.
  2. Schedule your free pick-up: CARS arranges to have a licensed tow company pick up your vehicle at a time convenient for you. The vehicle will be taken to one of our many sale locations where it will be sold—all at no cost to you.
  3. HSVC receives the funds: Our shelter will receive a cash donation in the amount of your vehicle's worth and you could qualify for a tax deduction! Vehicle donations are tax-deductible, and CARS works to get the highest return per vehicle for us and for your tax benefit. In most cases, when the driver arrives for your tax-deductible gift, you’ll be provided with the donation receipt. CARS will mail a thank-you letter within 30 days of the sale of the vehicle, which also serves as a donation tax receipt.

We accept all types of vehicles that meet the following basic requirements:

  • The vehicle has a clear title.
  • The vehicle is in one piece.
  • The vehicle is accessible for safe towing.
  • The vehicle does not need to be running.
