HSVC Attends CSUCI Community Engagement Fair ‘23

California State University of Channel Islands (CSUCI) hosted a Community Engagement Fair for their student body in early September. This was the first time HSVC attended the event at the CI campus along with about 40 other local nonprofits and student clubs. The wonderful team at the Center for Community Engagement sent us a special invitation to participate. The fair proved to be a great opportunity to showcase programs, volunteering opportunities, and the educational partnership with CSUCI.

In 2021, the Humane Education for Youth (H.E.Y.) department started a partnership with the university in hopes of engaging university-level students who are interested in the animal welfare and/ or education sector. Last spring a CSUCI student majoring in Environmental Communication chose to complete her capstone project with HSVC, and it was nothing but magical for the department. The partnership is a great way for the organization and department to engage with the university's pre-service young adults, giving them valuable experience in their choice of study.
