Baker's Journey

Baker has come so far since he first came to the HSVC! The 2-year-old Miniature Poodle was brought to the shelter as a stray in early February after he was discovered wandering along the highway. He was found very underweight and extremely matted with large patches of missing hair and overgrown nails. Baker also had infections in his eyes, ears, and paws. Despite his condition, Baker remained a happy, friendly boy who was just excited to be getting attention.

Our Clinic and Animal Care staff quickly went to work treating the energetic pup after his arrival. He seemed very grateful to have his matts shaved off and greatly enjoyed spa treatments of medicated baths and foot soaks. We're happy to share Baker's eye, ear and paw infections have resolved, but it will take more time for his coat to come back to normal. Until then, Baker will be rocking sweaters to keep warm and will likely need continued medicated baths and possible medication in the future.

The HSVC would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Baker's foster family for taking him in once he was medically cleared! His foster pawrents shared that Baker is very playful and loves to play fetch. He is affectionate, loving, and would be the perfect pup to take to coffee shops and breweries. He has so much charisma!

We are elated to share that Baker has officially been adopted into his furever home by Thaidra! Thaidra saw Baker's photo on social media and was instantly drawn to him. She visited him at the shelter and quickly knew Baker was the pup for her. After a quick meet and greet with her other fur child, she finalized the adoption and took Baker home! We couldn't be happier for this sweet boy. Congrats and happy tails, Baker!
