Celebrating Our Misson, One Year at a Time!

Every year, the Humane Society of Ventura County celebrates our birthday not just as a milestone, but as a heartfelt tribute to the lives we’ve touched, both human and animal. Thanks to the continued support of our community, we remain a safe haven for animals in need, a voice against cruelty, and a champion for compassion. With our 93rd birthday bash celebration nearing, we want to take some time to highlight a few of the reasons why we celebrate our birthday. Thank you to everyone who has supported our mission over the years! From adoptions, volunteering, and more, we couldn't continue the vital work we do without you!

Why We Celebrate:

Adoption Services:

Adoption services are at the heart of what makes HSVC so special! Every time a pet finds their forever home, it’s one more life saved and one more family made whole. That's definitely a reason to celebrate! It’s not just about finding homes. It’s about creating happy endings, freeing up space for other animals in need, and spreading the joy of rescue. Choosing adoption changes lives for both the animals and the people who love them.

Low-Cost Clinic Services:

Our Clinic team is on a mission to keep pets happy and healthy! HSVC's low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinic is all about keeping pets healthy and helping families care for their furry companions without breaking the bank. From spay/neuter surgeries to vaccines, microchips, and more, they're here to support our community every step of the way. With HSVC Cares' new mobile Pet Wellness Clinic, our team can now take that care on the road! They are reaching underserved neighborhoods to ensure pets receive the love and care they deserve. Plus, our free pet pantry program helps keep bellies full by providing pet food to families in need. It’s all part of our mission to keep pets happy, healthy, and home where they belong.

Humane Investigation and Education:

Humane Officers are the frontline heroes of our shelter, stepping in when animals need help most. Whether it’s rescuing animals from abuse/neglect or connecting families with the resources they need, their work saves lives, prevents cruelty, and brings hope to animals in tough situations. Our Investigations team also leads humane education efforts, teaching kids and communities how to treat animals with kindness and compassion. It’s powerful, life-changing work that keeps pets and people safe.

Volunteering and Fostering:

As an organization founded by volunteers, they hold a special place in our hearts! Whether they’re walking dogs, cuddling cats, helping at events, or opening their homes to foster pets in need, the love and dedication of our volunteers and fosters make all the difference. They give scared animals comfort, help shy ones come out of their shells, and play a huge role in getting pets ready for their forever homes. We truly couldn’t do what we do without them!

For 93 years, our shelter has been a lifeline for animals, thanks to the incredible support of our community. You've helped pets find homes, families access affordable care, and brought hope to animals in need through adoption, fostering, education, and more.
