Vote For Us! Best Non-Profit 2019

Thank you for voting for the Humane Society of Ventura County as best nonprofit in Ventura County! Ventura County is filled with many outstanding nonprofits and charities doing life-changing work. The past 6 months have been an exceptionally challenging time for Ventura County and its residents as it recovers from the tragedies that struck at the end of 2017 and 2018.
This year we saw many established nonprofits step up to the plate as well as welcomed many newcomers who were critical in helping our county heal. We are honored to be in the running with so many of our fellow charitable organizations working to improve the lives for all of us right here in Ventura County.
This past year we have made many new friends and encourage anyone who is interested in choosing to support the Humane Society of Ventura County to stop by for a visit! You will meet our knowledgable staff and volunteers who take great care in providing the best life for the animals in our care while they await their forever homes. We are very proud of our high adoption rates, as well as the success of the many other services we offer our community, many of which are free of charge.

For 87 years the HSVC has provided vital services to the community. Besides our adoption center, we also have our Low-Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic that alters not only the animals here at the shelter but for the public as well. Humane Education has always been one of our top priorities. We have visited thousands of classrooms, children and youth organizations, service clubs and various functions promoting the protection of and kindness to all living beings and our environment. Our badged and trained Humane Officers have been responsible for alleviating the suffering of many animals throughout the county. Over 500 reports of neglect and abuse are filed every year. Some of these cases are prosecuted in court, but many are handled by educating and monitoring the pet’s families. The Humane Society alongside other emergency agencies is always involved in rescuing animals during fires, floods, and other disasters. The Shelter is a busy place. We never know what it’s going to be like from day to day!

We value our loyal volunteers – BIG TIME! Since the day the Humane Society was organized, volunteers have been a huge part of what we do. These dedicated folks socialize the Shelter animals, do fundraising, help at various events throughout the county, make necessary repairs at the Shelter, help with landscaping, serve on the Board of Directors and do many more valued jobs. Our Pet Therapy program has been run by volunteers for 25 years. What joy these pets bring those who are confined to assisted living facilities and hospitals.

All of these services are made possible by our supporters. We receive no direct financial assistance from city, county, state agencies or National Animal Welfare Organizations such as The Humane Society of the United States and the ASPCA. Fundraising events, grants, bequests, investments, supporters and your very important donations are our only sources of income. When animals need a safe haven, we are here for them. We truly appreciate your love, concern, and support for our Shelter animals and the community outreach services the Humane Society provides.

Thank you to the Ventura County Reporter for recognizing all that the Humane Society of Ventura does for our community. We encourage everyone to cast their vote today! Voting ends July 21st.

The Rules: One online ballot per person. Ballots must have at least 20 completed categories. Do not list a business more than three times on a single ballot. We reserve the right to exclude any ballots that we believe to be part of an evil ballot-box-stuffing scheme. Please don't submit multiple ballots, we can tell if you do! All ballot info is kept confidential but by voting, you agree to receive the Reporter’s free weekly eNewsletter with opportunities to win free tickets, lunches and other great prizes! Good luck!
