Volunteers Make a Difference!

For 27 years, Cindy has been coming to The Humane Society of Ventura County and giving love and attention to the multitude of dogs that come through our doors. Cindy spends time with each dog, helping them prepare for the day when they will be adopted into their forever homes.

Cindy started volunteering after seeing a 1991 article featuring Debby Mooney, a current Board Member, and her daughter volunteering at the HSVC. She knew about our shelter but hadn’t considered becoming a volunteer until then. She began volunteering soon after that and never stopped, “It’s just fun!”, she said when asked what has motivated her to keep volunteering all these years.

Cindy loves the dogs and greatly enjoys learning their personalities and spending time with them. Over the years she has had many ‘favorites’ but has always had a weakness for the dogs who are at the shelter longer. She gets to know them better and is always overjoyed when they finally find a loving family.

“It’s very rewarding, “ Cindy says, “and it’s very beneficial for the dogs to have a regular volunteer work with them.” Cindy strongly believes in volunteering and how it not only helps the animals, but the volunteers also benefit from it. “It’s a win/win and everyone at the shelter is very supportive!”

The HSVC would not be what it is today without the help of dedicated volunteers like Cindy. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at (805)646-6505x110 or by email at [email protected].
