ABOUT
Thank You From the Humane Society of Ventura County!
The Humane Society of Ventura County would like to give a big THANK YOU to all of our supporters that make our work possible on a daily basis. Whether you support the shelter by volunteering your time, donating, or adopting, the shelter is here because of you!
As a private, non-profit organization that does not receive funding from the government or national animal welfare organizations like Humane Society of the United States or ASPCA, we depend on people who selflessly give to the animals and the programs that support them. There are many services provided by your local Humane Society besides our shelter adoption center. We provide low cost spay and neuter services to the public. Our Humane Educator promotes the humane treatment of all animals throughout the schools. Our Humane Officers respond to calls of suspected animal abuse and neglect. Our Pet Food Bank is here to support families who may be struggling to care for their pets. We are here when animals and the community need us the most and we are here because of the financial support we receive from our community.
We wouldn’t be able to do any of this work without our dedicated volunteers! We are thankful for the time they give as well as the skills and compassion they share to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals throughout the county. Volunteer Coordinator, Amanda Volden, says “Not a day goes by where our volunteers do not change the lives of the animals for the better". On average, our volunteers donate between 600-700 hours per month. Volunteers contribute to the shelter in a multitude of ways; dog and cat socializing, grounds work, office help, photography and videography, pet therapy, event help, yard checks, and more! Every month we have close to 30 new volunteers who go through our volunteer training program including our Junior Volunteers (10-15 year olds), after school clubs, adult care groups, and senior programs just to name a few.
The numerous animals that are adopted each month show us our community cares about the welfare and future of animals in need. Thank you to everyone who made the choice to adopt a shelter pet. Your decision to adopt makes an impact on our community by reducing the number of homeless animals all while making room available for more animals in need.
We truly appreciate your support in helping us protect the multitudes of less-fortunate animals in our area. We could not rescue, house, feed, and care for animals in need without generous contributions from animal lovers like you!
