The Humane Society of Ventura County was grateful to be the recipient of four pallets of donated dog food recently by the Wellness Natural Pet Food from a Southern California drive organized by Best Friends Animal Society. The food will be distributed to those in need including John who relies on donations to feed his two boxers.

Best Friends reached out to pet rescues and animal shelters in Southern California offering a portion of the donation. Over 40 organizations responded. The HSVC received wet and dry dog food in their allotment. “We have seen an increase in requests for pet food during the shelter-in-place orders throughout our community and this food comes just in time to assist a greater number of people and their pets,” said Greg Cooper, Director of Community Outreach for the Humane Society of Ventura County.

Special thanks to Kaylee Hawkins, Director, Pacific Region for Best Friends Animal Society for including the HSVC. Other members of Kaylee’s team who assisted with the gargantuan effort include Vania Campos, Kara Ludke, Jen Gerdon, and Candi Maciel. Kaylee wanted to make sure no segment of our society is left out during the pandemic. "During these uncertain times, our team is so appreciative of Wellness Natural Pet Food for continuing to go above and beyond in helping pets in need," Kaylee stated.
