Meet Shakira, a smart, easy-going, and playful pup who likes to take things at her own pace. In September 2024, she and her eight puppies were surrendered in the field to our Humane Officers. Though all her pups were quickly adopted, Shakira has yet to be so lucky. You can help us make her dreams come true by finding her the forever home she deserves!

Now 1.5-years-old, Shakira has made leaps and bounds since she arrived at the shelter. Though she's a little shy at first with new people, Shakira quickly warms up to become your best friend. Just give her the chance to show how sweet she can be outside of her kennel! The stunning Belgian Malinois does great with other dogs and loves having furry friends to hang out with. When she’s not playing or exploring, Shakira enjoys lounging and rolling around in the grass—it’s her happy place! If you’re looking for a chill yet adventurous companion who’s ready to enjoy life at a relaxed pace (with plenty of fun in between), Shakira could be the perfect match for you!

Those interested in meeting Shakira can stop by the shelter, located at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai, any time during visiting hours between 10 am and 4:30 pm. As a reminder, please be patient with our girl and try not to judge her at first glance. Shakira often exhibits stressed and anxious behaviors when being approached in her kennel by strangers. However, once she's out and in a play yard or with a handler she trusts, she's a completely different dog!

Shakira's available to bring home for just $17 until March 17th as part of our Luck O' The Irish adoption promotion! Included with every dog adoption will be the first DHPP shot of the series (if age allows),  a rabies vaccine (if age allows), a wellness check good for up to three days from participating veterinarians, implanting an identification microchip with registration, spay or neuter surgery, if necessary, as well as a collar, ID tag, and a leash.
