Celebrate National Rescue Dog Day!
Monday, May 20th, is National Rescue Dog Day! This day is celebrated in the animal welfare world to share all the benefits of adopting a rescue pup. According to the ASPCA, approximately 3.3 million dogs enter animal shelters each year. That's a lot of furry friends in need of families! Each one is as deserving of a loving home as the next, and we're here to advocate for them.
Dogs can come to the HSVC in a variety of ways. Visit our Adoption Services page to learn more about how our shelter acquires its animals. No matter the circumstances, the potential of these loving fur babies is limitless. They just need someone to take a chance on them!
Rescue dogs often have to overcome more obstacles than other canines. With a little TLC and training, they can become cherished members of the family and provide comfort, security, friendship, and more for their humans. Shelter pups have been known to be trained to serve those with disabilities and perform life-saving duties with emergency rescue teams. These four-legged friends are also excellent emotional support companions to help relieve anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other emotional stresses.
Whether you're looking for an energetic adventure buddy or a cuddly couch potato, always choose to #AdoptNotShop! The HSVC has dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities to fit your lifestyle. Those interested in adopting can view all of our available pups on our website. You may also stop by the shelter, located at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai, any time during visiting hours Monday through Saturday between 10 am and 4:30 pm to meet your future best friend!
