Reading to Dogs - and Cats!

The Humane Society of Ventura County invites all animals lovers to join us at the Shelter for a wonderful morning of reading to our dogs and cats. This is a great opportunity to give back to the animals we love and brush up on your reading skills while you're at it!

Here at the Shelter, we are always looking for ways to help relieve the stress the animals in our care may experience. Reading to the dogs and cats helps them relax and being socialized around a variety of people and age groups increases their chances of finding the perfect home.

During the event, we will have reading circles where children will be able to directly interact with our dogs and also opportunities for individual reading to dogs in our kennels. Our cat and kitten rooms will also be open for reading.

We ask that those interested in joining us to please RSVP so we can make sure to have enough books to go around. Parents are required to be present on the ground while their children are here. You are welcome to bring your own books if you have a favorite you wish to share with the animals.

For any questions, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Amanda Volden at (805)646-6505 x110 or by email at [email protected]

WHEN: Saturday, March 23rd. 10:00AM to 12:00PM.

WHERE: The Humane Society of Ventura County. 402 Bryant Street in Ojai.
