Pet of the Week - Simon

Simon says…adopt me! This guy has come a long way since he first came to our shelter in mid-October. Simon, a 2-year-old Chihuahua, was one of 21 dogs transferred to the HSVC as part of a dog hoarding case in Santa Barbara County. He was nearly hairless and very scared when he first arrived. After being examined by our vet, it was determined Simon had Atopic Dermatitis and several other allergies.

Our kennel and clinic staff worked tirelessly to treat Simon’s condition. He received medication, medicated baths, and was closely observed for additional ailments. With time, his hair started to grow back and he began putting on weight. He also started coming out of his shell with our staff and now loves going on pack walks with all his furry friends. We are so proud of how much progress he has made!

Because Simon is a very special dog, he will require a very special forever home. His condition will need to be monitored for the rest of his life. Simon is also still shy around new friends, so we think it is best he go to a quieter home with no children or large dogs. Sweet Simon has all the potential in the world to be a fantastic companion, he just needs to find the right forever home!

We are performing adoptions by appointment only at this time due to COVID-19. If you think you could be a good fit for Simon, please visit our website and click the orange “Let’s Get Started” button to fill out an adoption appointment request to meet him!
