Guided by Love: Noah’s Journey to a Forever Home

Update (9/2): Noah has been placed into a foster-to-adopt home!

Meet Noah, a 3-year-old pup who recently came into our care after being brought in as a stray. He arrived at the shelter fully blind, with both eyes severely affected by congenital abnormalities. Beyond the developmental malformations of his eyes themselves, one had a significant cataract causing inflammation inside the eye, and the other had high pressure (glaucoma). Noah's condition not only prevented him from seeing shadows and light, but they also caused him significant pain. With limited treatment options and in conjunction with his blindness, our Veterinarians opted to remove the source of discomfort. He's now on the road to recovery and on the search for a loving family to take him home!

Noah hasn't skipped a beat since his surgery. He appeared noticeably more comfortable and happier within just a couple of days post-op. The sweet pup also spent a few days in a home while recovering. In that short time, we learned that Noah loves all people, even kids! He's a fan of other dogs, walks well on a leash, and enjoys snacking on his favorite treats. Smart and respectful, Noah is potty trained and will gently snooze in your bed if you let him. Noah's temporary caregivers also noted his sweet-as-pie personality. He instantly found his way into laps for chin scratches and cuddles despite his blindness. He's a pup who knows what he wants and thrives from attention.

As Noah was already completely blind, there was no specific adjustment for him to make in his day-to-day activities post-surgery. However, all blind animals need small accommodations to help them thrive. His ideal home is with a family that is patient and will give him the guidance he needs as he learns his new surroundings. Additionally, we recommend that any stairs (even one or two) and pools be blocked off for his safety. The layout of furniture in his future home should not be changed often, and his potential owners may consider a type of “halo” to help prevent him from bumping his head and face on things.

We know there's a special home out there for Noah, and we need your help to find it! Please help us spread the word about this sweet boy so he can finally get the love he deserves. Share his story with friends, family, and the animal lovers of your community. Those interested in adopting Noah can stop by the shelter, located at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai, during visiting hours Monday through Saturday, from 10 am to 4:30 pm, to meet him. We have no doubt he'll capture hearts, so be prepared to fall in love!
