Local Artist Turns 30 Year Retrospective into Funds for Nonprofits

Freeman, a long-time Ojai Studio Artist, recently hosted an exhibit “Vie d’Art” at the Ojai Art Center highlighting treasured pieces she had created over the past 30-years.

HSVC Shelter Director Welcomes Stray German Shepherd Into Her Heart and Home

Congratulations Mia on finding her forever home with Jolene, Jeff, and their dogs Parker and Cooper. Mia, a 4-year-old German Shepherd, was brought to the Humane Society of Ventura County on February 22 by a kind citizen after she was found wandering in a canyon near Santa Paula. It appeared that Mia had been neglected and had recently given birth to a litter of puppies. Under the watchful eye of Christina Sisk, DVM, and the HSVC staff, Mia recovered quickly.

Volunteer Michelle (right) has been helping out at the Humane Society of Ventura County for about one year. Her primary love is with the big dogs. She can often be found playing with them in the HSVC Dog Agility Yard on the Shelter property in Ojai.

Volunteer Spotlight - From Compassion to Action

Sheila has been with the Humane Society of Ventura County for a year and a half and loves coming to volunteer, “There are so many things to help out with, and I can choose what works best for my interests and schedule.” Sheila began volunteering for the HSVC after she retired and wanted to give back in a way to benefit the animals. She signed up, attended training, and never looked back.
