HSVC Named a Ventura Marathon Charity Partner

As you may know, every year dedicated runners head to our beautiful coastal county to run the Ventura Marathon after months of training! But did you know that the Humane Society of Ventura County is one of Ventura Marathon’s Charity Partners? The animals here at the Shelter have been the lucky recipients of donations made through Ventura Marathon’s fundraising since its start, in 2013. The Ventura Marathon has raised over $18,000 to date, and that’s not even including this year!

Join Us in Celebrating Betty White's Legacy with the Betty White Challenge!

As many know, Betty White passed away on December 31st, 2021 just before her 100th birthday. Supporters can join us in honoring her legacy by participating in the "Betty White Challenge" and donating $5 to the HSVC in her name. This online event takes place on January 17th, what would have been the star's 100th birthday.

Malli and Athena's Adventure!

Looks like Athena and Malli had a blast on their weekend hiking adventure! The pair of HSVC shelter pups recently spent an afternoon exploring the trails of downtown Ojai with Kennel Attendant/Vet Assistant Natalie and Humane Officer Utter. Talk about a picture-perfect play date!

HSVC Partners with BUNS Once Again!

In late November of 2021, our staff answered a plea sent out by Santa Barbara County Animals Service (SBCAS) and BUNS (Bunnies Urgently Needing Shelter) regarding an overwhelming number of guinea pigs at their shelter. Senior Humane Officer King then contacted SBCAS’s Community Outreach Coordinator, Michelle Maltun, to coordinate the transfer of four guinea pigs to the HSVC.

Join us for a Virtual Class to Celebrate Penguins!

Join Humane Educator Angie Sagliani for a FREE virtual class Thursday, January 20th, at 3:30 pm in celebration of National Penguin Awareness Day! This 45-minute class is most appropriate for ages 7-12 and will feature penguin fun facts, a mini penguin draft project, and more. Come with us on a journey to the southern hemisphere and learn more about this beautiful flightless bird!
