John Darling adopted his sweet senior Tinker from The Humane Society of Ventura County a little over 2.5 years ago when Tinker was seven years old. Sadly she recently passed away, but not before enjoying what were most likely the best years of her life with John and his family.
On Saturday, June 11th, the Humane Society of Ventura County celebrated 84 years of service in Ventura county by hosting an Open House. Staff was on hand to answer questions and tours were available throughout the shelter.
At this year’s Open House we are excited to launch our Tiles for Tails Fundraiser campaign focusing on raising funds to rebuild our 34-year old dog kennels. This campaign will not only allow you to support the project financially, it will also give you the opportunity to leave a lasting impression for everyone to see as each tile will become a permanent design element of the new structure.
This handsome couple were found wandering up on Gorham Road in Ojai back in early March. A kind person came across them and rather than passing them by, stopped and brought them to the shelter. We were confident that a family was out there looking for them, but sadly, they were never claimed. Penelope and Jack have now been at the shelter for nearly 3 months and spend their days in a pen with up to 7 other senior dogs. It is our hope to find the perfect family and have them adopted out together!
It’s that time again! Every year for Adopt-A-Cat Month we have a “two for one” special on ALL our cats and kittens. If you are already considering adopting a cat this summer, why not think about taking home two!
