On March 2nd, a female Labrador Retriever and German Shepherd mix was surrendered in the field to Humane Society of Ventura County Humane Officers. It soon became clear that Lexi was pregnant, and on April 11th went into labor. Lexi had a difficult time giving birth but soon she was the proud mother of two girls and one boy.
Nika, Nanook, and Neptune are doing well and alongside the care from their mother, they are receiving the proper love and socialization from staff. Besides being handled by humans at a young age, experiences such as baths and various environments, are key to them growing up healthy and happy.
As a new mom, Lexi is very protective of her young pups and will be raising them out of the public spotlight during this crucial time of her new pups lives. In the meantime won't you consider making a donation today in honor of Mother's Day to help new mom's like Lexi get the care they need? No amount is too small to make a difference in the lives of animals throughout Ventura County!
